The challenge: To efficiently check the electrode forces for resistance welding tongs In the manufacturing process, car body parts are joined by resistance welding. Welding tongs are frequently used in the course of this.

The quality of the spot weld depends firstly on the current and the duration of the weld. Secondly, the force with which the welding tongs press the two metal parts together is also important.

Can the electrode forces be measured in the course of regular quality assurance though? Efficiently and reliably?

The solution: the mobile test set from tecsis

The robust set consists of a force transducer and display unit. The practical application:

  • The force transducer is held between the electrodes. The concave thrust pieces thereby centre the force transducer.When the welding electrodes are brought together, you can read off the applied force directly on the display unit. The values can be passed on directly to welding control.
  • The thin-film sensors in tecsis force transducers allow an accuracy of 0.2% of the measuring range. Thanks to the atomic fusion between the steel and thin-film cell, the sensors are very robust, creep free and stable long-term.
  • The mobile set is available with measuring ranges of 1 kN, 10 kN or 20 kN.

Besides the mobile test set, a fixed installation solution is also possible. In this case the force transducer is installed in the immediate vicinity of the robot.
